Robust Separation for Cycle Lanes

Rosehill Highways' Narrow Cycle Lane Defenders provide robust, surface-mounted separation between vehicles and cyclists. Designed in line with Cycling England and Sustrans guidelines, our units support the creation of 2.0m-wide cycle lanes wherever possible. Manufactured from 100% recycled tyre rubber, these units are quick to install and ideal for permanent or trial schemes.

NCLD FAQ

How long does NCLD take to install?

Units are surface-mounted using structural adhesive and mechanical fixings. A typical run can be installed in a matter of hours with no excavation or road closure required.

What is the expected lifespan?

NCLD units are manufactured from solid recycled rubber designed for long-term outdoor use. They are impact resistant, UV stable and do not degrade under normal traffic conditions.

Can NCLD be installed on curved or narrow streets?

Yes. The modular 2m units can follow gentle curves, and the system works well on streets with constrained geometry. For tighter radius layouts, NCLD Lite offers additional flexibility.

Are reflective elements available?

Optional 50mm retroreflective glass eyes can be fitted to improve visibility in low-light conditions. Units are also compatible with a range of keep-left signs and reflective bollards.

How does NCLD compare to traditional kerb build-outs?

NCLD provides physical cycle lane separation without excavation, utility diversions or curing time. It can be installed on existing carriageway surfaces and removed for future resurfacing or layout changes.

What happens if a unit is struck by a vehicle?

The solid rubber construction absorbs impact without shattering. If a unit is dislodged, it can be removed and replaced individually without affecting the rest of the installation.
