Cycle Lane Protection
Permanent, surface-mounted cycle lane protection for existing streets, school routes and active-travel schemes where robust separation matters.

Product Overview
Rosehill Highways' Narrow Cycle Lane Defenders provide robust, surface-mounted separation between vehicles and cyclists. Designed in line with Cycling England and Sustrans guidelines, our units support the creation of 2.0m-wide cycle lanes wherever possible. Manufactured from 100% recycled tyre rubber, these units are quick to install and ideal for permanent or trial schemes.
Capabilities
Fast to Install
Surface-mounted with no excavation. Bolted and bonded to existing carriageway for rapid deployment on live roads.
Modular
Units connect end-to-end for continuous or intermittent protection. Extend to any length required by the scheme.
Durable
Solid recycled rubber absorbs vehicle impact without fracturing. Units can be swiftly replaced if dislodged.
Applications
City centre protection on existing streets
Safe travel corridors for students
Long-run corridor segregation
Junction and pinch point protection
Removable for future adjustment
Common Questions
Units are surface-mounted using structural adhesive and mechanical fixings. A typical run can be installed in a matter of hours with no excavation or road closure required.
NCLD units are manufactured from solid recycled rubber designed for long-term outdoor use. They are impact resistant, UV stable and do not degrade under normal traffic conditions.
Yes. The modular 2m units can follow gentle curves, and the system works well on streets with constrained geometry. For tighter radius layouts, NCLD Lite offers additional flexibility.
Optional 50mm retroreflective glass eyes can be fitted to improve visibility in low-light conditions. Units are also compatible with a range of keep-left signs and reflective bollards.
NCLD provides physical cycle lane separation without excavation, utility diversions or curing time. It can be installed on existing carriageway surfaces and removed for future resurfacing or layout changes.
The solid rubber construction absorbs impact without shattering. If a unit is dislodged, it can be removed and replaced individually without affecting the rest of the installation.
We can help with route constraints, visibility options and the right NCLD layout for your project.
