On Upper Chorlton Road in Manchester, a series of Narrow Cycle Lane Defender (NCLD) Lites were installed to enhance protection along the existing cycle lane — particularly at junctions where turning vehicles pose the greatest risk to cyclists.

At half the length of our standard units and weighing just 24kg, each NCLD Lite can be installed quickly by a single operative. Designed for flexibility, they’re ideal for both permanent and temporary schemes — and can be removed and reused across multiple projects, reducing costs and waste.

Each unit is made using 4.5 recycled car tyres, offering a sustainable, hard-wearing alternative to concrete. Reflective bollards can be added for greater visibility, further improving safety for active travel users.
