The Challenge

Vehicles regularly exceed the speed limit on the busy Northern Blvd in Queens Cyclists feel unsafe when using the roads, and incidents are common NYC is committed to creating an integrated and mobile community where cyclists feel safe

The Solution

Segregate the cycle lane on Northern Blvd using our surface-mounted Narrow Cycle Lane Defenders Create sections of continuous segregation using our substantial Lane Separators Both products are kerb height and can incorporate a range of high-visibility bollards Bespoke reflective bollards were installed to increase visibility, especially at night

Results

• Cyclists can safely travel around Queens and Rockaway Parkway South of Flatlands Ave
• Incursions by vehicles into the cycle lane have been eliminated
• Cyclists report feeling safer and more confident cycling in the segregated cycle lane
• Rental electronic scooters can be riden in the cycle lane
